Pattegrisen Shrimp variant or Pink Pig by Davie McPhail

The Pattegrisen Shrimp otherwise known as a Pink Pig is a wispy shrimp pattern for saltwater. The pattern is a little more complex than the average fly, but the results are spectacular. As always, Davie makes it looks easy.

Hook: Saltwater Shrimp
Weight: Flat lead tape
Thread: Uni-Fire Orange
Legs: Red polar bear or bucktail
Mouth: Diamond Brite Sand Shrimp and Sherbet Dubbing mixed the palmered coral hackle
Feelers: Coral rhea white peacock dyed pink
Eyes: Black Easy Shrimp Eyes
Rib: Pink Wire
Body: Diamond Brite Sand Shrimp and Sherbet Dubbing Mixed or something similar…
Body Hackle: Chinese Cock dyed Coral and Peach
Back: Salmon Pink Antron Yarn
Head: Fire Orange

Polar Extreme Pot Belly Pig

Here is a popular sea run species pattern tied up on a weighted tube. One material on this fly I have never used is the Pig’s Bristle, and so now I need to track some down. The dyed jungle cock is also a rarity over here in North America unless you want to dye it yourself. As always, a great looking fly and lots of tips to be had in this lesson.
