How to Tie a Jigged Prince Fly by Caddis Fly Angling Shop

In this video, Greg ties a Jigged Prince Variant nymph. Effective anywhere trout may live. Greg uses this fly on his European-nymphing setup as a terminal fly or a dropper, but you could also use it under an indicator or under a dry fly for a dry-dropper setup.

#FRIDAYFLYTYING: Prince Nymph Variant by Allen Fly Fishing

#FRIDAYFLYTYING: Prince Nymph Variant

Doug Prince first developed the Prince Nymph in the 30s, and it’s become a fly box necessity for good reason. This pattern is an excellent imitation for everything from stoneflies to water boatmen, more typically seen in lake fishing (check out the Stillwater Fly Fishing app to see more about these little guys!). The only reason we’ve made any changes to the pattern today is that we couldn’t find our peacock herl and the right hen hackle, but let’s pretend it’s to improve the durability of the fly! Whether you tie this pattern in a classic way (do it – peacock herl is a proven fish-catcher) or follow along with this variant, you need Prince Nymphs in your fly box!

– Peacock Herl or Dubbing –

Psycho Prince Nymph by In The Riffle

The legendary artist Prince was found dead at his recording studio in Minnesota on Thursday, according to the Associated Press. He was 57. He was known for a number of things, but what always stuck fast in my mind was the 1984 Purple Rain album and his eccentric style, even for a musician. In The Riffle put together this great nymph pattern called the Psycho Prince a few years back, but I though it a fitting tribute to the Prince of Pop, King of Style.
