The 20 Incher stonefly is a great pattern for mimicking large stonefly nymphs. If tied smaller it can also mimic baetis as well. Its just got everything that makes trout bite. Biot tails, ribbed peacock body, and active legs that move around like crazy. Just really one of the best stonefly patterns out there in my opinion.

Pattern Recipe

Hook I used: Firehole Sticks #718 in size 12
Alternative Hook: Daiichi 1270
Weight: .015 Lead Wire

Utah Final Epic Day Fishing! – McFly Angler Episode 62

Utah Final Epic Day Fishing! – McFly Angler Episode 62

Well, this had to be one of the most productive days fishing I have ever had, and quality fish as well! Some of them had so much girth that they looked like little tuna’s. And the hardest fighting fish had a head the size of my hand. Amazing day fishing rainbows! I was able to streamer fish, dry fly fish, and nymph. The rainbows here fight like crazy, and are an absolute blast!

So 6 lakes is a really nice resort that is very reasonably priced for what they are offering. The cabin can hold up to 12 guys and is around $300-400 a night. So that can end up being just a few bucks for each of you. All of the lakes at this resort hold some nice fish, and its fairly easy to catch them if you know what you are doing. However it’s not overly easy, and the fish make you work for it, which makes the experience much better than just fishing a hatchery or something. I really enjoyed this day fishing, and I will always remember my time spent with this great group. of guys!

So I know not many of you read the description section here, but I want to let you guys know that this will be my last fishing video for some time. 2.5 years of working hard to keep this channel going, and I ended up putting lots of money on credit cards to keep my family afloat during this time. The channel did not bring enough money in for me to support my family. And working over 60 hours a week at it, it was not allowing me to go get a 2nd job that did pay what my family needs. I am very sad that I cannot continue, and I appreciate all of my subscribers! God bless each and every one of you, and I will keep you all in my prayers! I ended up getting a job at a car dealership nearby my house, which I am confident I will be able to pay off the credit card bills in no time and be able to support my family in the way they deserve. Please don’t miss the video coming out this Friday on the “20 incher” stonefly. It’s a great bug, one worth learning to tie! I love all of you! God bless! I will still be here answering questions and helping out on comments, so please say hi every once in a while. I cannot promise I will be as quick with it though like I used to be. But I will work hard at getting back to all of you!

6 lakes Utah – Fly Fishing Resort and Fishery by McFly Angler

6 lakes Utah – Fly Fishing Resort and Fishery – McFly Angler Episode 61

This had to be one of the most luxurious places I have ever stayed while fishing. Of course that is not saying much since I like backwoods camping and hiking to get to my normal destinations. However, this was really truly an amazing trip, with an amazing place to stay.

6 Lakes is called that because they have 6, privately owned and stocked lakes on their property. When you stay with them, you have access to all 6 of the lakes, which each offer something different. Granted, its all trout (with the exception of one smallmouth and bluegill pond) but the lakes are all different in fishing style. One seems to do better with streamers, the other does great with dry flies, and nymphing is the name of the game throughout. Different structure underneath and different types of access to each lake makes fishing all 6 lakes a new adventure at each place. You could stay here for over a week, and fish 24/7 and still not get bored.

So the fish not only were all very nice sized fish, but they all pulled very well. Such hard fighters! Seriously I have not ever had trout pull that hard lb per lb. They all had huge heads on them also, in comparison with their bodies. Not sure what caused that. But they were beautiful fish, and spunky.

So if you want to stay at 6 lakes, the fee to rent out that place is not all that bad. I was told it was about $300 each night, and it sleeps up to 12 guys (2 bunkhouses and a few rooms in the main house). So, the cost could be very low if you get a large group. Really reasonable (if not an exceptional deal) for what they offer here. Its located in Altamont Utah, which is about 1-2 hour drive southeast from Salt Lake.
