Troll Fly by Catch Cam Nets

Finally a good use for those annoying Trolls I keep stepping on in the middle of the night. The Troll Fly is a sweet little baitfish pattern and as seen in the video, works great for redfish. For that matter, I would also be looking to throw this fly at pike and bass. If you don’t have any of the dolls at hand, a patch of craft fur will do great in its place.

Clown Shoe Caddis – Jay Zimmerman

Here is another great looking pattern from Jay Zimmerman. We have featured his flies on the blog before, and I love his tying style. This caddis looks ideal for me with the hi-vis post. The body looks great, and with this design, it will float like a dream, lots of hackle, deer hair and a dangling body. I don’t think I would change a thing.

Olive Oil – Andrew Moy

If you have some extra Blue Eared Pheasant cluttering you tying desk, here is a simple little spey that can help you get rid of it. This one features a hairwing instead of the more traditional strip wing, but I do like the end result. I’ll need to come back to this little spey in the summer to tie a few for the fall salmon and trout run.
