In my tradition of reworking the lyrics to almost any Christmas song, I figured it was time we put a fly tyer’s spin on things. As a kid, growing up in Canada, we often rewrote the “12 days of Christmas” to the “12 days of Hockey”. It went something like this, but changed every year.
12 brand new sticks
11 rolls of tape
10 minute misconduct
9 shots on net
8 body checks
7 playoff finals
6 points a game
5 Golden Pucks
4 new jerseys
3 pairs of skates
2 penalty shots
and a brand new Stanley Cup ring.
This year, you get to sing about a bunch of fly patterns. I’ll be adding a new one every day until Christmas.
On the first day of Christmas my Ghillie tied for me, a Soft Hackle Partridge and Orange.
