Razor Foam Caddis – Carl Pennington

Carl Pennington has a great little tutorial for tying up this fly. It is a simple pattern, and what I really like about it that it is quick to tie, it will easily float a nymph, and it has a great natural looking taper. The key to the taper is the bias cut into the tie down end of the foam. Just three materials for this quick and easy pattern. Enjoy!

D-Rib Golden Stone – Carl Pennington

If you like fishing big yellow stone nymphs, this pattern is for you. This is a nicely put together fly with a beefy look to it. Who’s gonna pass that up.

Carl Pennington Fly Tying Demo at Ghillies Fly Shop on Nov. 07, 2009, Colorado Springs, CO. The D-Rib Golden Stone is one of the coolest flies I have seen. It is a perfect match to our local stones and is a very durable fly. Try this in any of the stretches of the S. Platte River. Carl is from Denver, CO and is a fly designer for Montana Fly Company.

Enjoy.
