I really like this little chironomid from Davie. One thing I really like it the economy of the thread wraps he uses to keep the fly thin. It has a nice segmentation with the quill body, and the light coat of resin will make it indestructible. Personally I would tie this on a curved shank hook
Hook: Kamasan B170 size 10
Butt: Flo- Fire Orange UTC Thread 70
Rib: Peacock Quill
Body: Black UTC 70
Thorax Cover: UTC Ice Blue Pearl
Wing Buds: Sunburst Goose Biots
Davie ties up a trio of buzzers here running through 3 different dressings for the popular UK buzzer. It’s a really a simple fly to tie and works well on both sides of the pond. I like tying mine with seal fur and tend to stick to darker colors to imitate Chironomid pupae.
Hook: Kamasan size B170
Thread: Thread colour to suit pattern
Body: Seals Fur or Sub
Breathers: Glo-Brite Multi-Yarn No16, White Etha Foam or Natural CDC Feathers
This is a simple and nice looking English style buzzer pattern. I would be apt to add a bit weight to the head, but it all depends on how you plan to fish it. With the red holographic tinsel, this could easily pass for a bloodworm or a Chironomid, just change the depth that you plan to fish it and viola.
