This fly is tied up by Mike Brook. Although the fly was designed for Atlantic Salmon, it is also effective for fishing west coast salmon species in both the west coast and in the great lakes region. The fire orange modification looks great here as well. There are a couple of the originals tied up by Alastair Gowans hanging on the wall of the Margaree Salmon Museum.
While at the Margaree Salmon Museum last fall I seen a few of Allister’s flies hung on the wall, nicely framed and signed. This one looks almost identical to those.

Another excellent video put together here by Davie. I’ve never really tried tying the Ally’s shrimp, but there are a few great tips in this video that would make it a smoother attempt. The technique Davie uses for the hair collar is worth your 10 minutes. It looks effortless, but I think I may need a try or 2 to perfect the skill.
