My friend Robert over at Castingoutloud.com has put together a nice video tutorial about tying up a top water Bass fly. There are a couple techniques to note as he ties with GSP (Gel Spun Polyethylene) and uses some nice methods to trim the fly to shape. This looks like a great fly for Bass species and perhaps even some large trout.
A couple months back we told you about a fund raiser being organized by Keith Passant of North Wilts Fly-Fishing Club. I’m happy to report that the event has raised just under $6,000 in support for the Casting for Recovery charity and many notable fly tyers showed up to lend their support. I hope to see more events such as this in the future and wish Keith good luck in organizing next year’s event.

It’s not everyday you see something like this. I recently found this auction which features a signed letter from the president and a couple of flies the he himself had tied. The auction is being held to raise funds for the Indian Creek Initiative in Sun Valley, ID., and the McCloud Watershed Council, who is battling the Nestle Corporation plans to place a water bottling plant on the headwaters of the McCloud River in California.
I’d love to have this piece hanging on my wall, but I’m sure it’s going to head out of my price range shortly.
