The Deep Creek Leech is a simple steelhead pattern from Eugene, Oregon steelhead guide Matt Ramsey. Matt runs the Two Dudes Flyfishing along with Scott Nelson offering trip along the Umpqua, Deschutes and Willamette Rivers.
For the eyes on the fly I use a 4.0mm brass barbell, but for deeper runs, you may want to consider using lead. The Collar is tied with rabbit, either a zonker strip or a cross cut strip. the pattern is similar to the Hareball Leech or a Starlite Leech, 2 favorites for west coast steelhead.

The Fish Taco is a simple fly to tie and provides a ton of action in the current. The fly is unweighted and can be fished at depth by using split-shot or weighted heads. The fly has a ton of action with the long ostrich tendrils and offers a glint of flash with just a little Flashabou. There is also a version of the Fish Taco called the Flash taco tied with Flashabou rather than ostrich if you need a flashier fly.
The Fish Taco was designed by Jeff Hickman (Mr. Hankey) to have a ton of action and to be light.

I started tying the Northshore Stonefly Nymph for a client but have been fishing this simplified stonefly nymph pattern designed for trout and steelhead. I tie the fly on a 3xl curved hook like the Mustad C53s, Tiemco 200R or the Partridge K12ST. You could also bens a 4 or 5xl streamer hook if you are in a bind. I use a custom blend of dubbing this fly that is similar to Hareline’s Senyo’s Laser Dub. The process to make your own dubbing is pretty straightforward so if you want to try it out yourself, you can check out the process here. I tie this in black, brown (this version in the video), olive, and golden.
