Is it a fly? If you tie it like a fly and fish it like a fly, to me it’s a fly. This brown marabou jig with a yellow head is extremely effective on stocked trout in the Ozarks, but it works out west too, and not many people think to use tiny jigs when they’re fly fishing. This is a good color combo, but treat it as a template. Tie whatever “streamer colors” work in your area.

I would be eager to hear about any source for matte yellow brass or tungsten beads that viewers know about. I would love to tie Woolly Buggers or other beadhead streamers in this color combination, but finding dark yellow beads has been impossible for me.
