Red Butt Chironomid by Piscator Flies

The Red Butt Chironomid is a great choice for fishing stocked trout ponds, lakes and even deep pockets of rivers where trout hang out. The fly is pretty simple to tie, using 2 different colors of thread. You can use other materials to create the body, but the thread keeps the body of the fly slim. You can also use a UV resin to coat the body to really beef up the durability.

  1. A nice pattern for sure and I also use this pattern in the spring on the lakes of eastern Washington state.
