Back to basics with Hans Stephenson tying a classic Pheasant tail Nymph (PTN). this is one of the very first patterns I ever tied, and I still use it quite a bit, mind you, the ones I use have changed somewhat over the years. I mostly tie them on scud hooks with tungsten beads and will on occasion, add a hot butt. Hans does a great demonstration here, and any neophyte following his lead is on a good start. If you haven’t tied up a PTN in a while, here is an excuse to revisit this classic.
